Edge Editions is an independent publishing imprint devoted to the history of place, told through material culture, landscape, and archival evidence. Founded by historian, photographer, and publisher Bradford A. Fuller, the press builds regional histories from archives, objects, land records, photographs, and the land itself.
For the past eight years, Fuller has researched and published illustrated histories of the Saco River Valley in western Maine, with particular attention to Fryeburg and Brownfield. His work draws on maps, photographs, artifacts, legal records, and other primary sources to trace how the land was surveyed, settled, and worked by Indigenous and colonial communities.
The books are rich with anecdotes about the real people, places, and incidents that shaped the region’s past. Many of these stories have been recovered through extensive research in newspapers, diaries, books, essays, travel journals, town reports, Civil War letters, and other historical records—bringing the past to life through the words and experiences of those who witnessed it.
Current work centers on a manuscript exploring the material and documentary history of the Saco River Valley, built from years of fieldwork and archival research. It brings together environmental history, material culture, photography, and visual scholarship for readers interested in Maine, New England, and the history of settlement.
Edge Editions is both a publishing platform and a working archive. Projects grow out of sustained work with historical societies, libraries, land records, museums, and family collections. Historical materials are documented carefully and presented with respect for their original context, while the books seek to make that evidence accessible, engaging, and visually compelling.
